The Good Stuff…

What sets us apart?
Here are some questions you may want to ask
the competition:

  1. How long have they been in business?
    * We are family owned and operated, since 1981.
    * A large portion of our business is referrals.
    * In addition to residential fencing, we also do a substantial amount of commercial, industrial, and government jobs, and are respected in the industry. Often they do not seek other proposals or bids. Keep in mind that a few installers in this area have changed their DBA (Doing Business As) name or relocate, because of substandard work or owing creditors money. We've always been Sussex Fence, located in Millsboro, Delaware. We've maintained a good relationship with all our suppliers, and we pay our bills on time. Reputation, reliability, and consistency are important to us.

  2. Are they licensed and insured?
    * We are licensed in the State of Delaware, as well as in the surrounding towns and cities. We are fully insured for your protection.

  3. As odd as this sounds, do they pay their suppliers? On time?
    * We always have. We’ve never had judgments or lawsuits. Just Google.

  4. What type of materials are they using?
    * Some installers in this area use “chain store” budget fencing.
    * We purchase from reputable suppliers, manufactured in the USA. The difference in quality and construction is obvious. Our terms and conditions include a link to the manufacturer’s warranties. Our suppliers can fabricate custom orders, and so can we, in our shop. We are quite creative and innovative.

  5. Are they setting posts in concrete? If so, what type of concrete? Is it dry Sacrete or do they mix actual concrete on site?
    * We bring our own mixer and mix actual concrete & gravel on-site.

  6. Do they obtain permits?
    * We obtain any necessary permit(s), which is included in the cost.

  7. What is their crew like?
    *
Our crew is local and all are long-term. The average term of employment is over 25 years. Their longevity says something about their work ethics, as well as the company's. They are professional, courteous, and each brings an enormous amount of experience and expertise. But the one word that sums them up is integrity. We are immensely proud and fortunate to have such a crew!

  8. Are they seasonal-driven only?
    *
We install all year, including winter. There are only a few instances where weather prohibits installation.

  9. What does their workmanship say about them?
    *
The quality of our work speaks for itself and sets us apart. Unfortunately, the downside to this is that we do book up quickly, especially during peak season.

  10. What is most important part of their business?
    * You are the most important part of our business. Our customers have made Sussex Fence one of the most successful fence contracting businesses for the past 43 years. The truth is, we all fall short occasionally. But what distinguishes a company of excellence is consistency in striving to serve customers’ needs with open communication and integrity. It’s not all about price. It’s not about getting on the schedule faster than the competition, although we’ll do our best to accommodate your project within your time frame. It’s not just a fence. We have a proven record of trust and reliability.

And as a woman, women’s issues are very important to me. I love to sit with my customers, sharing stories and experiences. You’re not a number to me, and I’ll personally make sure you get the customer service you deserve.

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thank you for considering Sussex Fence,
